Trunk or Treat!

This past weekend we had our annual "Trunk or Treat" in our church parking lot. The kids always have alot of fun dressing up and the adults have alot of fun dressing up "our trunks." Our small group did a Daniel and the Lion's Den theme this year and the men (including Wade) dressed up as Bible characters (Satraps) encouraging the kids to go inside our tent and "Dare to be a Daniel."
The tent was dark with bones and pictures of lions but the scary part was the sound of lions growling on the inside. As you can see, Ellie was a soccer player, Madison a cheerleader and Katie teamed up with her buddy, Celleste, to be salt and pepper. We wrapped things up by roasting hotdogs over the firepit.

Saturday was also alot of fun. I joined 5 other women in my Bible study to "walk" the "Race for the Cure." What a great experience. I had no idea it was such a big and meaningful event. It was so neat to see all the people wearing special pink t-shirts (breast cancer survivors) and those with special signs pinned on their backs indicating who they were walking in celebration of or in memory of.

Madison's first piano recital

Madison had her very first piano recital tonight. She had a great time and did a beautiful job playing "Square Dance." She has taken violin lessons with Ellie for the last couple of years and although she enjoyed that I have always known that she had a love for the piano (see baby picture taken in Wisconsin when she was less than two). So, although, I have always had visions of them playing beautiful violin duets together we made the switch....and she LOVES it. This summer she and I went through Katie's primer level lesson book together so she was able to start book one with her teacher this fall. I get so much joy from the girls' love for music and am so thankful that my parents gave me the opportunity to learn to make it myself.

OK, here we go! I am sitting here listening to a conference call that is going on 2 hours and realizing the silver lining is that it has given me time to figure out how to do this whole "blog" thing. The courts have made more rulings this week and they have not been favorable for the employees. Stay tuned for round 3, I guess.

The girls and I had a great day...we are so pleased with the fall weather. When I woke up yesterday it was 30 degrees!! The only downside is that we are one day closer to the next hot summer :) This has been a crazy week for soccer...lots of rain cancelled games are rescheduled for this week so we have something like 7 soccer games!
